Let us hope and pray for the peaceful public gathering that is going to be held this afternoon to go and end well and smoothly.
I am expecting that there will at least be miniature scale mayhem given the response from the police and the opposing bodies to the gathering, but I hope the rakyat will do all they could to ultimately keep their cools and put their focus on the solitary goal that brings them there at the Dataran Merdeka whilst giving little or no attention at all to attempted provocation.
We have lived to see too much errs and frauds in the country, let us hope that today will mark the beginning of the end of all this agony.

Is that the 'bersih'.... something.
huhu.
my knowledge in politics sangat rendah. =)
Yes it is. You don't have to be knowledgable in politics to get to know things like this I guess. Just keep your eyes a little more open, and be aware of your surroundings =)
*ouch*
Point noted, mister!
=)
i dun see why they hv to gather kecoh2 like this. CNN n Al-Jazeera managed to capture the scene. Buat malu je. There are many better ways to channel dissatisfaction. Hmm, u rase pilihanraya kita x bersih ke, frankly?
It was a very PEACEFUL gathering until police started to intervened. In fact I too was surprised by how well-behaved those people were. But that's not the main point.
Our people have long remained under the shell of silence- we just swalllowed whatever fed by the government. Most of the time we knew some of the things that were happening in front of our bare eyes were not right, but we were too afraid to voice out our dissatisfaction. And because this has been happening for too long, the government now think that they own the people, that they can do whatever they like even if it favours their own personal interests and the people will still have no guts to stand up and speak out.
It's not just about the election. I would say that what happened yesterday is the culmination of public tension both at present time and from past events where the interests of people had been heavily exploited; Operasi Lalang and and Peristiwa Baling make perfect examples. Apparently when there's a malfunction you head back to the root of the problem. The root, in this context, is the election. Now I'm not saying things will certainly improve when this is fixed- I don't place my trust to the opposition either in case they happen to win in the future- but at least we do something that ultimately make the government realizes that we the people have powers too, not just them. And in case you haven't realized, those governing people actually work for us, not the other way round. Now when you have 40 000 people you're working for walk to you airing out their discontentment, it would at least send you shuddering wouldn't it? That's the use of gathering the people.
Yes, it's a disgrace to be seen by the outside world as a country so famous for its so-called democracy to have that kind of public rally. But what's more disgraceful is to continue letting those people who're holding the ruling powers do whatever they're doing without at least try to do something that could spark a change. Personally I would say it's a good thing that those channels captured the scene and conveyed the truth to the world, our mainstream media just won't do so. Now that's another thing that sends shudders to the government, they now know the world is watching.
There's a lot more I can say, but let's just save it for later use. And please also consider the fact that I've got three papers coming up in the next two days, I need to give them more attention really. Haha. In the meantime you can go around the blogosphere looking for articles on this matter and make a judgment yourself. Come to me for help if you need one.
well, the gathering didint go peacefully as the people wanted. i dono why, and i don want to make any wild allegation, but whenever fru are there, surely the gathering will turn to be chaotic.
but worry not, they managed to hand in the memorandum to the palace, just hope the king will get it and read it and some action will be taken..
thats what id been told by the taxi driver who sent me to kemaman from kuantan airport yesterday... =P
havent read any newspaper yet
i was thinking... even with the memorandum, what could the king possibly do? this is way out of his job scope.
in the 1st place, do he even has the power to do something about this except than 'advising' the pm? u know that wont bring us anywhere.
sadly, i have to say that the rally will not create the kind of change as we expect. it might create a different kind of change - political awareness but dont hope too much..
pliz dont be too sarcastic about the rise of the people of what these educated opposition leaders tried to do. it's our job as the future generation of the Malaysia to seek for the truth and justice! jangan harap disuap saja, cari penyuluh kebenaran, apa guna kaya berjuta-juta, tapi kepekaan pada keadilan rakyat tidak ada! If that's the case, we are not upholding the responsibility as a caliph and a slave to Allah swt!!! Wake up my dear youth frenz! Sokong cepe!!!!!!
please search who are the SB! Dieorg nie yg buat kecoh2! baca history adolf hitler, bennito mussolini yang terkutuk! macam tue la kerajaan kita buat! SB : Special Branch!!!!!!

I'm totally a stranger here but pardon moi that I can't restrain myself from saying smthng regarding that rally
Personally, I don't think that our general elections were free from any hassle whether they're hidden or overt *if u know what i mean*
d gov labels the rally as smthng that an educated society won't do, but is there any better way that we can do since d gov itself seems to ignore any form of penegakan keadilan formed by rakyat?
the YDPA might want justice as well but... well u know what those influenced ppl can do..the power they hold is sometimes beyond what they've been enacted in d federal constitution .. *sigh*
ermm, there are 2 different stories, YDPA personally received the memorandum and YDPA was in Terengganu and didnt get the memorandum from the opposition rep himself..
now im wondering if the paper that i always read is actually, somehow is controlled...just guessing, don put me under ISA aa...
Danial:
Wait, so that means you're already back in Malaysia! It's so not fair! Haha.
Alright, the YDPA wasn't actually there in Istana Negara while the thing took place. You're right, he was in Terengganu for the Monsoon Cup. But here's something many of us do not know; even if the YDPA was there, there is no way the memorandum could be handed directly to him- it's simply against royal ordinance. I'm tempted to say that the papers you were reading tried to manipulate the situation, making it seemed like the YDPA didn't want to get out from his palace and get the memorandum himself.
Afifah:
Aha, now that's another thing. I don't really have the knowledge with regard to the powers of YDPA, so I guess I can't help you out with the question. But at least now the government knows that the royal house will at least be watching them, and hopefully that will make a difference.
